Dylan Burger has lived in Strand his whole life. This community is his home, and he is invested in seeing it thrive.
With his passion for technology, he will use his IT background to build faster, more streamlined communication channels that directly improve the service delivery affecting daily life in the ward.
As a ward councillor, Dylan wants to be a direct link between the community and local government. He believes in accountability, accessibility, community pride and youth empowerment, and those values shape the issues he intends to work on in Ward 85.

Residents want to see law enforcement in the neighbourhoods and along the coast, not only after an incident.
What I will work for
Advocate for increased law-enforcement presence and more frequent patrols in our neighbourhoods and coastal areas.

Accredited neighbourhood watches already know where the hotspots are, but that information needs to reach the right people quickly.
What I will work for
Collaborate with local accredited neighbourhood watches to monitor and rapidly escalate hotspots and emerging crime trends.

Local young people need real opportunities, and our beaches need trained lifeguards each summer.
What I will work for
Petition for off-season youth training programmes that can qualify local youth as lifeguards for the summer seasons.

Illegal dumping hotspots damage the environment and the pride residents take in their streets.
What I will work for
Press for municipal action on illegal dumping hotspots and enforcement against polluters, and champion regular community-driven cleanup campaigns.
My first responsibility will be to the residents of Ward 85. But I will not work in isolation. Our VF Plus candidates across Somerset West, Strand and Gordon's Bay intend to cooperate across ward boundaries and strengthen the Helderberg's voice within the City of Cape Town Council.
