Alex Wheeler is an entrepreneur and has called Gordon's Bay home for over 20 years.
In business, he has found realistic engineering solutions for dozens of international movie productions over the years, under the tight schedules and budgets that the industry demands, as well as winning several awards for his work in the real world of architectural construction and design.
Alex has managed multi-million-rand budgets and contracts for high-profile South African and international clients. That experience has taught him the importance of accurate costing, careful planning, firm oversight, and proper delivery of work.
As a councillor, he hopes to bring the same real-world demands to our region: isolating inflated costs and bringing them down, finding sensible and affordable solutions to challenges, and grounding budgets in reality while still ensuring timely completion and high quality of delivery. That is what is required to get Gordon's Bay and the Helderberg back up to the standard we expect, while removing frivolous expenditure and letting those better-managed funds reflect on your municipal account through the removal of arbitrary levies and fees and reduced rates.
The VF Plus Helderberg branch intends to work together to improve services to the overlooked suburbs of the Helderberg and to bring common sense and fiscal responsibility to residents. It's our time!

Isolate inflated costs and press to bring them down, question arbitrary levies and fees, and advocate for reduced rates so better-managed funds are reflected on your account.

What I will work for
Apply the same costing, planning and oversight discipline used on multi-million-rand contracts, and press for frivolous expenditure to be removed.

Work in Gordon's Bay and the wider Helderberg is not always completed on time or to the standard residents expect.
What I will work for
Insist on firm oversight of contracts and projects, timely completion and high quality of delivery, and sensible, affordable solutions to local challenges.
My first responsibility will be to the residents of Ward 100. But I will not work in isolation. The VF Plus Helderberg branch intends to work together to improve services to the overlooked suburbs of the Helderberg and to bring common sense and fiscal responsibility to residents.
